LÓKAL KYNNIR NÝJA LISTRÆNA STJÓRNENDUR

Nýir listrænir stjórnendur taka við Lókal leiklistarhátíð

Stjórn Lókal hefur ákveðið að þær Eva Rún Snorradóttir og Vala Höskuldsdóttir verði listrænir stjórnendur hátíðarinnar næstu þrjú ár, 2019-21.

Eva Rún og Vala taka við af Ragnheiði Skúladóttur og Bjarna Jónssyni sem verið hafa listrænir stjórnendur Lókal leiklistarhátíðar frá árinu 2008, en Ragnheiður hefur störf sem stjórnandi Festspillene i Nord Norge (Arctic Arts Festival) í sumar og Bjarni hyggst einbeita sér að störfum sínum sem höfundur og dramatúrg. Hann verður áfram stjórnarformaður Lókal leiklistarhátíðar.

Það er mikið ánægjuefni að þessar frábæru listakonur taki við stjórnartaumunum hjá Lókal. Þær munu nú hefja undirbúning að hátíðinni sem verður haldin í september á þessu ári.

 Eva Rún Snorradóttir (*1982) er ljóðskáld og sviðslistakona. Hún útskrifaðist úr sviðshöfundanámi við LHÍ, hefur síðan starfað með sviðslistahópnum 16 elskendur og þríeykinu Kviss Búmm Bang sem teljast til brautryðjenda í evrópskum samtímasviðslistum og hafa haft mikil áhrif á það sem kallað er „þátttökuleikhús“. Meðal fjölmargra verka hópsins má nefna Eðlileikana, Great Group Of Eight, Hótel Keflavík, Downtown 24/7 og Horfin heimili. Eva Rún hefur einnig kennt við LHÍ og setið í valnefnd Grímunnar. Hún hefur gefið út 3 ljóðabækur; Heimsendir fylgir þér alla ævi, Tappi á himninum og Fræ sem frjóvga myrkrið.

 Vala Höskuldsdóttir (*1985) er tónlistarkona og sviðshöfundur. Hún hefur starfað sem laga- og textahöfundur og söngkona með Hljómsveitinni Evu, en hefur einnig unnið leikhúsverk í samstarfi við aðra, t.d. Aude Busson. Hljómsveitin Eva hefur komið fram á tónleikum víða um land, í sjónvarpi og í útvarpi og gefið út plötu (Nóg til frammi). Hljómsveitin samdi tónlist við uppsetningu LA á Gullna Hliðinu 2014 og kom fram í sýningunni. Hljómsveitin kom einnig fram á Spectacular, sviðslistahátíð Lókal og RDF árið 2016, og flutti verkið Glæðingarmessa í samstarfi við Kvennakórinn Kötlu. Í kjölfarið vann hljómsveitin Eva röð útvarpsþátta sem báru yfirskriftina Það er allt í lagi að leggja sig á daginn. Nú síðast samdi Hljómsveitin Eva tónlistina fyrir Insomnia eftir leikhópinn Stertabendu.

LÓKAL ANNOUNCES NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTORS

Artists Eva Rún Snorradóttir and Vala Höskuldsdóttir are the new artistic directors of Lókal Theatre Festival! The new artistic directors will be in charge of all festivities for the next three years, 2019-21 and will take over from Ragnheiður Skúladóttir and Bjarni Jónsson who have been artistic directors since 2008. Ragnheiður begins work as a new artistic director of the Arctic Arts Festival (Festspillene i Nord Norge) this spring; Bjarni will focus on his work as a writer and dramaturg but continue to chair the board of Lókal.

The reins are being handed over to great people and visionaries:

Eva Rún Snorradóttir (*1982) is a poet and a theatremaker. She studied theatremaking at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. She has for many years been a member of the arts collective Kviss Búmm Bang who have been in the forefront of participatory theatre in Europe. Their work include The Norm Olympics, Great Group Of Eight, Hotel Keflavík, Downtown 24/7, Republica and Lost Homes. Most of these have been presented in the programme of the Lókal festivals. Eva Rún has also been teaching at the ICA and she has been on the committee for the Icelandic Theatre Awards. She has published 3 books of poetry; End Of the World Unil the End Of Your Life, A Plug In the Sky and Seeds That Fertilize the Dark.

 Vala Höskuldsdóttir (*1985) is a musician and a theatremaker. She has worked as singer-songwriter with A Band Called Eva. She has also done collaborative work in theatre, most recently with the group Stertabenda. A Band Called Eva have performed their music around the country, on TV and radio. They released a record in 2017, There’s Still Plenty Left. The band was part of Spectacular, Lókal’s og RDF’s joint city festival in 2016, with Mass Of Burn Out, a piece they made in collaboration with Katla, a local women’s choir. In the wake of the project the duo put together a series of radio pieces called Afternoon Nap Is Always OK.

The new artistic directors have already started their preparations for Lókal which will take place in September 2019 (exact dates tba).

 

 

 

 

Ragnheiður Skúladóttir new artistic director of Festspillene i Nord Norge

Ragnheiður Skúladóttir, has accepted the position of the artistic director at Festspillene i Nord Norge (Arctic Arts Festival) and will leave LÓKAL in March to take up her new position in Norway. We wish her the very best!

A! Performance Festival - 3rd edition

LÓKAL is ecstatic about it´s partnership with Akureyri Art Museum with whom we programme the performance festival A! The third edition of this great festival, that focuses on performance in visual arts and contemporary performance, was held in Akureyri September 1-4. 

14 performances were presented by over 40 international and local artists. The event has in in it´s short lifespan truly made it´s mark on this capitol of North-East Iceland!

EVERYBODY´S SPECTACULAR LINE UP

LÓKAL joins forces yet again with Reykjavík Dance Festival in presenting the performing arts festival EVERYBODY´S SPECTACULAR, November 15-19. The festivals have been for past years presenting their international and local editions in August but now we have decided to try out November.

Brokentalkers tour This Beach around Ireland

This Beach will be touring throughout Ireland in November 2017.

This Beach is a blistering satire of white western privilege made in response to the global refugee crisis. The show was co-produced and premiered at the Munich Kammerspiele before it’s sold at run at Tiger Dublin Fringe. The national tour is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. This national tour is produced by Project Arts Centre.

Iceland Dance Company is getting rave reviews

Iceland Dance Company has been on the road, back and forth from Iceland, since the premier of SACRIFICE last March. Spring Festival, Utrecht, Arctic Arts Festival, Harstad, Julidans, Amsterdam, Southbank Centre, London and Tanzhaus Dusseldorf have been the hosts for either SACRIFICE or BLACK MARROW. The film Union of the North by Matthew Barney, Erna Ómarsdóttir and Valdimar Jóhannsson was screened at Impulstanz this summer. In November SACRIFICE will be presented as part of NEXT Arts Festival in Kortrijk, Belgium.

Brokentalkers take Ireland by storm with Blue Boy

Brokentalkers have started their Ireland tour with their award winning production The Blue Boy. The production premiered in Dublin Theatre Festival 2011 and has toured the world since. It is great to see this ever relevant production tour Ireland for the first time.
